Professor Rajan is a clinical academic and ophthalmic surgeon based in Cambridge with expertise in management of corneal and cataract disorders and research interest in advanced surgical techniques and treatment cure for corneal blindness.

Private Secretary

Julie Wright is the Private Secretary/PA to Professor Rajan with several years of ophthalmic secretarial experience and practice management behind her. She will talk you through what happens on your first visit, so you get the most from your consultation after which she will liaise with you to plan treatment dates or follow-up as necessary.  She will also assist you with any administrative or insurance procedures.

Eye Diagostic Team

Mrs Val Parker assists Mr Rajan towards eye tests that might be required during your clinic visit. Val and her colleagues Alison, Anne, Mary and Becky are highly experienced in the use of eye diagnostics to aid definitive diagnosis. Our site has the privilege of diagnostic facilities such as ocular biometry, Pentacam topography, pachymetry, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), refraction assessment, visual field analysis and orthoptic assessment.

Surgical facilities

The eye surgical procedures are undertaken with strict adherence to aspesis in operating theatres equipped to high standards at both Spire Cambridge Lea theatres and Addenbrookes Eye Unit.


General anaesthetic or sedation will be undertaken by consultant anaesthetists who will guide you with pre-operative advice in preparation for surgery. Local anaesthesia will be delivered by your surgeon.
